Veterans often face challenges transitioning from military life to civilian life. Finding ways to connect, heal, and grow after service can be difficult. Recently, Whisper 7 Six partnered with the veteran non-profit I Got Your Six to create an event that did more than just offer excitement—it built a community and fostered healing. At Sebring International Raceway, 30 veterans and their families experienced ride-alongs on the track, but the real impact came from the connections made off the track.

Bringing Veterans Together Through Racing
The event at Sebring was designed to give veterans a unique experience: the thrill of high-speed ride-alongs on an internationally recognized raceway. What started as a fun day quickly became a powerful gathering. More veterans and families showed up than expected, requiring extra cars to accommodate everyone. This unexpected turnout showed how much veterans value opportunities to come together in meaningful ways.
The race cars served as a catalyst. They drew people in with excitement and adrenaline, but the real value was what happened between driving sessions. Veterans gathered in the pits, sharing stories and experiences. These conversations helped them reconnect with themselves and each other, creating a space for healing and growth.

How Shared Experiences Build Strong Bonds
Veterans often bond through shared experiences, especially those involving high stress or risk. The raceway environment mirrored some of those elements but in a controlled, safe setting. This allowed veterans to open up about their service and personal journeys without the pressure of military life.
The event showed that healing happens when people feel understood and supported. Veterans exchanged stories about challenges they faced during and after service. These moments of vulnerability helped break down barriers and build trust. The connections formed were not just casual; they laid the foundation for lifelong friendships.

Continuing the Connection Beyond the Track
After the ride-alongs, the group headed to a local steakhouse to continue building relationships. This relaxed setting allowed veterans and their families to unwind and deepen their conversations. Sharing a meal created a sense of normalcy and community outside the adrenaline of the raceway.
These moments are crucial. They show that healing and connection extend beyond a single event. The friendships formed at Sebring have the potential to grow and provide ongoing support. Veterans left with more than memories of fast cars, they left with a network of people who understand their journey.

What This Event Means for Veteran Support
This event highlights how creative approaches can support veterans in meaningful ways. Using race cars and a famous raceway might seem unconventional, but it worked because it met veterans where they are. The excitement opened doors to deeper conversations and healing.
Programs like this demonstrate the power of community and shared experience. They remind us that healing is not just about therapy or treatment—it’s about connection, understanding, and support. When veterans come together in safe spaces, they can rebuild trust, find hope, and move forward.

How You Can Support Veterans in Your Community
Events like the one at Sebring show the impact of thoughtful support. If you want to help veterans in your area, consider these ideas:
Create or join local groups that offer social and recreational activities for veterans.
Partner with veteran organizations to host events that encourage connection and storytelling.
Include families in veteran support programs to strengthen the entire support system.
Promote safe, engaging environments where veterans can share experiences and build trust.
Volunteer your time or resources to organizations focused on veteran well-being.
Each small effort contributes to a larger community of care that veterans need to thrive after service.

A Thank You to Our Mission Partners for This Event
BFGoodrich® Tires
BFGoodrich came through way beyond what we could have imagined for this event and it was such a huge success with such a huge turn out only thanks to their contributions to this event. We truly couldn't have pulled this off without them. Our professional drivers are used to full racing slick tires and could not believe how well the DOT tires from BFGoodrich performed. They were exceptional in grip both in our dry and wet sessions with comparable performance to even some of the more well known racing slicks on the market. Even more remarkable is after a full day of sessions on Sebring, known for it's harshness on all consumables, the tires still looked brand new and never showed signs off falling off during our ride alongs. BFGoodrich not only supports our nations heros but backs it up with an exceptional product our drivers look forward to using for future events.
NASA Florida
Jim VanderVliet, the regional director for NASA Florida Region, went above and beyond to support the veterans at this event. From providing a place to get out of the heat and sun, great garage spots in the pits, fantastic communication setting up the event, to even providing extra cars and drivers when we had more veterans attend than expected, Jim and NASA Florida made sure this was a fantastic event for the veterans. There was no way we could have supported the number of veterans we did that day without the kindness and generosity of Jim and the whole team of staff and instructors at NASA Florida. NASA Florida continues to deliver a safe and competitive environment for everyone from new HPDE drivers to competition classes competing for the NASA championships. We can't recommend NASA Florida more for those looking to start to get behind the wheel on track in Florida.
IGY6 Foundation
The I Got Your Six Foundation has a history of putting veterans first with fantastic events building up our nations veterans and they proved yet again their passion for vets with the event. From managing the veteran sign ups and vetting, covering veterans meals, operating costs, photography, and helping massively with event coordination, IGY6 made this event a huge success. This would never have even left the planning phase without their support in execution. We look forward to working with them again supporting our nations heros. Please check out the I Got Your Six Foundation for fantastic events for veterans and their families.
